Booking a Golf Vacation to Hilton Head

To ensure that you get first hand knowledge of course conditions and the various choices of lodging properties on the island, we suggest that you use a locally based company. They will be able to provide you with the best suggestions on when to play, where to play, and where to stay. Take a look at the “Golf Packagers” page for our suggestions.

Should I Pre-Book My Tee Times?

Our answer to this is always yes because you want to make sure you get the time that fits best into your golf vacation schedule. Waiting until the last-minute for cheaper rates reall does not apply to Hilton Head anymore, so make sure you call a central call center or the courses directly for your preferred tee time.

Arrival Time During the Summer

Of course, Hilton Head Island and the Lowcountry is the most busy during the summer time and a majority of the vacation rental companies have you checking in after 3:00 on a Saturday. We suggest that you try to check-in a day early and a day late to ensure that you don’t get stuck in the off-island traffic. Sometimes, it can take 2 – 3 hours to get to you villa, home or hotel.

What Airport Should You Fly Into?

Although Hilton Head does have a regional airport being served by Delta and US Airways, we suggest you fly into Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. It is only a 45 minute drive to the island and you have plenty more options for choosing a carrier.

Making Dinner Reservations

There are over 200 restaurants on the island, reservations can get pretty competitive during the busy month of March, April and June – September. We suggest making a reservation 24 – 48 hours before you want to eat!
